According to Intuit, QuickBooks error code H303 indicates that the system in which the company data file is located requires additional configuration settings. There are multiple reasons why this error occurs. Usually, QuickBooks fails to set up a proper connection to the server. Below given are the possible reasons for QB error H303.

  1. Poor computer network
  2. The communication process of the company data files are blocked by Firewall
  3. Improper hosting/server configuration settings
  4. QuickBooks Database Server Manager Services or QBCF Monitor not being introduced
  5. Internet Protocol (IP) address of the system or the company data file hosted by the server can’t be accessed by QuickBooks
  6. Wrong or damaged .nd file
  7. Incorrect DNS settings

NOTE: – Error code H505 QuickBooks, similar to H303 also occurs due to the above-mentioned reasons.

 

How To Resolve QuickBooks Error Code H303?

There are several possible solutions to solve QuickBooks error code H303 and H505. Follow the below-given steps to resolve the error.

Solution 1 – Use Network Diagnostic Tool

  1. Download and Install Network Diagnostic Tool
  2. Scan the folder in which your company data file is located
  • Open Scan Folders tab
  • Press Add Folder
  • Browse the company data file
  • Press Scan Now button
  1. Note down the number of Network interfaces and IP addresses
  2. Test the data file connectivity
  • Go to Test Connectivity > press Browse button
  • Browse your company data file
  • Press Test Connectivity button
  1. Note down the Advance Status and File Open Status
  2. Now, try opening the company data file to see whether it shows QuickBooks H303 error or not

Solution 2 – Verify QuickBooks Server Settings

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop on your systems (both) > switch to Multi-user mode
  2. Select File > click Utilities > select ‘Stop Hosting Multi User Configuration’ (perform this on both the systems)
  3. Turn ON hosting in any one system. Go to Files > Utilities > select ‘Host Multi User Configuration’
  4. Reboot both the systems

Solution 3 – Setting Up Access Permissions For QuickBooks Services

  1. Set QBDataServiceUserXX as the Windows Administrator
  2. Open the QuickBooks company data file
  3. Check the startup option
  • Press Windows Icon. Type msc in the search field and press Enter (for Windows 7 and Windows Vista)
  • Open Run (Windows Button + r) > type msc in the text field > click OK (for Windows XP)
  • A list will generate. Browse QuickBooksDBXX and right-click to open its Properties
  • Switch the Startup Type to Automatic
  • Go to Service Status > click Stop
  • Now click Start
  • Rescan the folder in which the company data file is located
